A – Assessment
We know that any period of assessment can be a trying time for parents and little ones. At Syon Early Years, we offer a variety of assessments, each with your child’s needs at heart. We always place an emphasis on as early a diagnosis as possible, as a way of ensuring early intervention programmes, meaning the best outcomes later in life. All our assessments are carried out by our clinical team of psychologists, speech and language/occupational therapists and educations staff – all working closely with parents every step of the way.
Our assessments include:
Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) – an individual outcome measure, where tasks are specifically identified to suit each child. Outcomes allow parents to see positive change and development in their child, and are all subject to three-monthly reviews.
MAPP Assessments (more info needed)
OT and SALT Assessments (more info needed)
Early Diagnostic Assessments – these follow NICE guidelines, and include developmental history, play-based assessment, observation at Syon Early Years and a neurodevelopmental report.
U – Understanding
Understanding how your child is developing is fundamentally important – to you and to us. At Syon Early Years, you will find parent programmes and workshops which offer pragmatic and fruitful strategies, together with a real-life focus on understanding autism.
We couple that with an introduction to autism training, and SEN Code of Practice workshops.
Our aim is always to open doors to communication and interaction, so we also offer real-time feedback on parenting strategies and approaches via observation and recordings.
R – Readiness for school
Our long-term focus is to always support your child in the transition to the next phase in their education – whether that is towards special or mainstream provision. We therefore craft sensory and communication profiles for each child, and utilise hi-tech assistive technology.
We also employ a range of strategies, working closely with parents to put in place the best possible range of support to prepare your child for the next step in their educational journey.
